Woman Succumbs To Injuries After Santa Cruz Hit-And-Run

BREAKING: The 62-year-old victim was airlifted to a trauma center.

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — A Bonny Doon woman who was injured in a hit-and-run crash as she was walking her dog near Steamer Lane in Santa Cruz last week succumbed to her injuries on Saturday, Santa Cruz County sheriff's officials said. Elizabeth Green, 62, was crossing the street in the 700 block of West Cliff Drive when a car described by witnesses as a red convertible Buick LeSabre hit her around 8:35 p.m. on May 1, police said.

Green was airlifted to a trauma center. Shortly after police arrived, an officer found a 1994 red Buick with damage to the front windshield driving in the roundabout on Beach Street, less than 1 mile from
the crash.

The officer stopped the Buick in the 400 block of Front Street and arrested the driver, 63-year-old Lorenzo Arteaga of San Jose. He was booked into the county jail on suspicion of felony hit-and-run with injury.
