Woman who had her Car Stolen Finds the Car With Suspect in it

Police arrested Candice Jones, 30, for car theft.

When a Santa Cruz woman found her Chevy Tahoe was missing at 9:30 p.m. from her home Wednesday on Button Street, she did her own patrol, driving around the neighborhood.

Then, miraculously, she found it a few blocks away parked in a driveway on Grant Street.  In the driver's seat was a woman. 

When the victim called police, the Candice Jones, in the seat, told her she wasn't going back to jail and took off.

Police, aided by a dog, searched the neighborhood and found a suspect, Jones, 30, under a parked RV at another home. They arrested her for auto theft, violating probation and resisting arrest.

Jones, they said, was on probation for auto theft.
