Yo, Free Yo-Yo Shows for the Next Two Days: You Have to Check This Video

The humble yo-yo has gotten a major upgrade, as dozens of kids and parents found out Thursday at Capitola's Kaleidoscope toys. These aren't your parent's yo-yos.

The new yo-yos have ball bearings in them and can spin for as long as 29 minutes. That makes for some mind-boggling tricks. Prices for the new yo-yos range from $10 for the basic model to $200 for a titanium top-of-the-line.

Said to have been invented in ancient Greece, the yo-yo became popular in the U.S. in the 1920s and has had booms and busts regularly. The last boom was in the 1990s according to yo-yo expert Tyler Severance. The new technology is reviving the art again now, he adds.

Check the video above for tricks and what makes yo-yoing cool again.
