SANTA MONICA, CA — The best hotel in the U.S. is in Santa Monica, according to a recent ranking from Tripadvisor.

The Shore Hotel on Ocean Avenue was ranked No. 1 on the website’s Travelers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best Hotels list, which recognizes hotels with a high volume of positive reviews over a 12-month period.

The website noted that the Shore Hotel is pet-friendly with ocean views, an eco-conscious design and close proximity to Santa Monica Pier and nearby attractions.

One reviewer said the lobby employees “work like a well played Orchestra” while another remarked upon the “spacious, well-appointed, quiet and clean” rooms.

Luma Hotel Times Square in New York was ranked No. 2 on the list and FivePine Lodge & Spa in Sisters, Oregon, was No. 3.
