Crash Shuts Down 10 Freeway/PCH Tunnel Tuesday Afternoon: Sigalert

SANTA MONICA, CA — Traffic was at a standstill in the tunnel that connects the 10 Freeway and Pacific Coast Highway following a multi-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon.

The McClure Tunnel was completely shut down to traffic heading east on the 10 Freeway after the crash, which occurred at around 2:12 p.m. A Sigalert was issued at 2:27 p.m and canceled nearly 90 minutes later.

Traffic on the westbound 10 Freeway was also stopped at the tunnel. Motorists were warned to expect delays; traffic was backed up to Cloverfield Boulevard at around 3 p.m.

Police were stationed at the 7th Street onramp to prevent other vehicles entering the freeway.

All lanes were open in both directions by 3:40 p.m.

The City of Santa Monica is responding to a Traffic Collision at the MCCLURE TUNNEL. The I-10 Freeway is closed until further notice. Use alternate routes.
