Special Observing Event: The Plane of the Solar System & the Rings of Saturn

The program starts in the Planetarium and – weather permitting – continues outdoors as participants observe an unusual ragged procession of planets and the moon stretching across the evening sky: Venus as its sets into evening twilight, a crescent moon, tiny but reddish Mars and creamy yellowish Saturn. If clouds intervene, the program will stay in the Planetarium with high-resolution images.

The feature shows are at 8 p.m. and are preceded by “The Night Sky Show” at 7 p.m., which re-creates the night sky and provides the latest information on space exploration.

The John Drescher Planetarium, which features the Digistar projection system, is located on the second floor of Drescher Hall, 1900 Pico Blvd.
