SANTA MONICA, CA — Now that Christmas has passed, don't just toss or burn your Christmas trees. Residents in Santa Monica have options to recycle their real trees for free.
Most areas across Los Angeles County, including Santa Monica, provide curbside recycling services between Dec. 26 and Jan. 31. Christmas trees can be placed at the curbside or alleyway next to recycling and waste containers on scheduled trash collection days.
Wondering what to do with your holiday tree after the festivities? 🎄
It’s simple, no 3-1-1 request is required!
1️⃣ Remove all the decorations, stand and lights
2️⃣ Place your tree on the curb or in the alley for automatic pick up

Residents are advised to remove ornaments and decorations, plastic containers, tree stands, nails and lights.

Flocked and artificial trees cannot be recycled and should either be reused for next year’s holiday or placed in garbage bins to be disposed of at a landfill.
