Name of the person who nominated the hero:
Melissa Michan

Is the nominee considered an “essential worker”?:
Yes

What does the nominee do for work?:
Delivers Meals to Elderly|Disabled

Why do you believe the nominee should be recognized or honored?
She not only volunteers for the disabled|Elderly, but she made care packages & encouraged those to leave them for their delivery service-USPS. She cooks & feeds for all the local elderly on our street. She uses her own money to buy waterproof blankets for the homeless. She gives them tea|coffee & food daily on her own accord. Irene has walked dogs for free. She went with our neighbor Sam to put down his dog. I believe she’s collected food for the homeless at the Brentwood Farmers Market. She and her husband Adam have become staunch Crime night watchers.

When you first see Irene you may think she’s just a beautiful privileged model, but she’s extremely smart, driven & just so kind and aware of others & surprisingly unaware of how beautiful she is inside & out. This woman has jumped peoples cars bc there’s a parking lot close to her house. She and her husband protected a homeless man from being attacked.

What’s one thing you want everyone to know about your hero?:
Irene told me there’s 2 reasons she helps people. First, she thinks of her single dad & would want someone to help him and second, she was a single mother & struggling student when a man who owned a store gave her diapers when her card declined & she promised him she would pay it forward & it’s people like him who helped her become successful. She believes a small act of kindness can turn someone’s life around.

Thank you for all you do, Irene!
