Los Angeles-Area Assemblyman Announces Resignation
Assemblyman Sebastian Ridley-Thomas said he will step down after four years in the state Legislature because of health issues.

LOS ANGELES, CA -- Assemblyman Sebastian Ridley-Thomas on Wednesday said he will step down after four years in the state Legislature because of health issues. The 30-year-old Democrat said he is facing "persistent health issues," reported the Los Angeles Times.
“On December 18th, I underwent surgery for the fifth time this year," Ridley-Thomas said in a letter provided to the Times. "Although I expect a full recovery, my physicians advise that I will need an extended period of time to recuperate.”
"Earlier this year, Ridley-Thomas was absent from work for more than two weeks. Staff members initially said the absence was a personal leave, then said the time off was due to unspecified medical reasons," the Times reported.
