Man Arrested After Shooting Homeless Man In Santa Monica: PD
An Inglewood man was arrested a month after he was suspected of shooting a homeless man in the back in Santa Monica, police said.

SANTA MONICA, CA — An Inglewood man has been arrested a month after he was suspected of shooting a homeless man in the back following a brief altercation with a third person, according to police.
Officers responded to the 200 block of Broadway, near Second Street, at around 1:30 a.m. Jan. 15 to reports of shots fired, according to the Santa Monica Police Department.
Investigators determined that an unidentified woman was in an argument with a homeless man moments before the suspect approached the man. Mendez is accused of then chasing him into the middle of the street and shooting him in the back, police said.

Police publicly identified Fabian Mendez, 28, as the suspect shortly after the shooting. He was arrested Feb. 11 on suspicion of homicide, police said.
He's being held on $3 million bail, jail records show.
