New York Times: Santa Monica Man Turns Yoga Into Art

Robert Struman, a Santa Monica based mixed-media artist who has traveled the world documenting pregnant women, musicians, surfers and landscapes, was profiled Friday in the New York Times.

But he tells the paper's health and science blog, "Well," that it was yoga that changed his life. And reporter Tara Parker-Pope says it was yoga that "triggered one of the most creative periods of his career, resulting in a series of stunning portraits that capture the beauty and poetry of asana."

In the Q&A with Parker-Pope, Struman shares how he picks his models—he photographed one woman in a red dress 15 minutes after meeting her in a Manhattan cafe—and what it is about yoga that appeals to you as a subject for art.
