SANTA MONICA, CA — The Ferris wheel on the Santa Monica Pier will light up with a 90-foot-tall Mexican flag in celebration of Cinco de Mayo on Monday.

The wheel will feature a red, white and green waving flag when it lights up from sunset to midnight.

The Ferris wheel, known as the Pacific Wheel, features 174,000 LED lights, which are mounted on the wheel's 40 spokes, two hubs and other parts of the structure. That all helps create 16.7 million color value combinations.
