Santa Monica Pier Welcomes Over 250 Kids for First-Ever Youth Day

New annual tradition underscores Pier's nonprofit mission to bring joy, access, and discovery to all

The Santa Monica Pier made waves on Saturday, October 11, 2025, with the launch of its first-ever Youth Day at the Pier, welcoming more than 250 underserved children from across Los Angeles County for a day filled with joy, play, and discovery along California’s most iconic coastline.

In partnership with the Hands and Hearts of Hope Foundation, the inaugural Youth Day treated participating children to complimentary entertainment, classic carousel rides inside the historic Merry Go-Round Building, unlimited rides and games at Pacific Park, and an unforgettable introduction to the Pacific Ocean. For many attendees, it was their first-ever visit to the beach.

“Seeing the wonder on these kids’ faces as they stepped onto the Pier for the first time reminds us exactly why we do what we do,” said Jim Harris, Executive Director and Historian of the Santa Monica Pier. “As a nonprofit, our mission is to ensure the Pier remains a place where everyone can experience joy—regardless of background or circumstance.”
