SANTA MONICA, CA — Santa Monica authorities arrested one person in connection with an apparent homicide in the city Thursday, according to the Santa Monica Police Department.

Authorities responded to reports of a woman screaming for help inside a multi-family apartment complex in the 1400 block of Lincoln Blvd around 10:47 a.m. Thursday, according to Santa Monica police. Authorities found a woman dead inside one of the apartment units, Santa Monica police said.

Authorities arrested Lamont E. Horton, 47, nearby the apartment complex shortly after the incident Thursday and transported him to the Santa Monica Police Department jail, authorities said.

Horton was identified by witnesses as the person who came out of the apartment and is thought to have known the victim, authorities said.
