Abby Aguilar quit volleyball but gave it another try. On Tuesday she did a cross court hit in the 10-foot line.

Abigail Aguilar is now in her fourth year of volleyball. Her skills lag behind many of her teammates.
But on Tuesday on an outside side, Abby hit an extraordinary kill -- a cross within the 10-foot line.

"Her hit was amazing," said Eden Garcia, normal outside hitter. "She looked like Michael Jordan."
It's been an extraordinary journey for Abby at Lighthouse Christian Academy of Santa Monica. She has come from feeling like an outsider, a person of color, from a public school where she was ditching classes. Now, she's a hero, a reference point, a leader admired by everyone at LCA.

Despite her standing in the eyes of everyone, she still doubted herself. "I sort of gave volleyball up," she says. "I just thought my skills weren't worthy for me to be on the team. I thought volleyball was over for me."
But coaches urged her to continue on the team, and she gave it another try. On Tuesday, she executed an expert hit and was cheered wildly by her teammates. She was evidently happy.
Lighthouse made quick work of Ojai Valley School: 25-4, 25-11 and an extraordinary 25-0 with serves from team captain Shayla Papik.
