We threw the Brick at them
That is, Alex Brick, our 240-lb lineman. Even so, Lighthouse was overrun by Coastal Christian 22-50 at football

By Michael Ashcraft --
He was throwing up all week long, but come Saturday, Alex Brick, the behemoth sophomore of Lighthouse Christian Academy was throwing football players around the field.
"He looked terrible coming into today. He has not kept food down all week," said Coach Justin Kayne. "He played a full game and gave everything. He made some really big tackles. At least four or five solo tackles which is really difficult."

Despite his (and others') heroics, the Santa Monica-based Saints fell before the Conquerors of Coastal Christian School (Pismo Beach) 22-50 at 8-man football.
"It's the same story all year. We have nine guys going into the game healthy," said the LCA coach. "They fought hard, just a few key plays in terms of some turnovers took us out of the game, but we were in it. The scoreboard does not reflect how well the boys played and overcame adversity."

Indeed, LCA opened the scoring and held Coastal Christian to a unfruitful fourth down that meant a change of possession.
Coastal Christian looked like they had some clones of Hoss, the big brother of Bonanza. Lighthouse had Brick.
Alex says his last name, of Welsh origin, representing a tradesman, was probably shortened through successive generations living in America.
"It definitely hurt" playing with sickness," Alex says. "I just kept going out there. I kept firing off. I kept trying to make tackles. I kept on my blocks. It doesn't matter if I'm sick or not, I still have to play my football."
At half, Coastal Christian was already dominating. The score was 16-30.
Three loss of possessions doomed the Saints in the second half.
"Little things just here and there, we killed ourselves with turnovers," Coach Kayne told the LCA players at the end of the game. "But overall, that was a helluva football game. You guys tackled. That was the best hitting I've ever seen out of this group. This is a game we can actually build on."
