College of Adaptive Arts Joins San Jose Barracuda in Fundraising Event

'Hockey is For Everyone' Event Helps Raise Funds for Adult Special Education

College of Adaptive Arts will join forces with the San Jose Barracuda, a professional AHL Hockey Team, for its ‘Hockey is For Everyone’ Fundraiser on November 16, 2024.

Students from College of Adaptive Arts will participate in the game that evening by singing the opening National Anthem, as well as performing a special cheer routine during the game.

The San Jose Barracuda will also donate a portion of ticket sales from their November 16 game back to College of Adaptive Arts. Tickets to the game can be purchased here.

College of Adaptive Arts is a non-profit organization that provides lifelong, collegiate education to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) who have been sidelined by traditional higher education. The school, which serves nearly 250 adults with IDD across 9 different states, has also created a new workforce development program which will help train and eventually hire students into paid positions of Teacher’s Aide, Receptionist, Event Planner, and more.

According to San Jose Barracuda representative Daniel Fruzzetti, ‘Hockey is For Everyone’ was designed to welcome and recognize individuals of all backgrounds who identify in many different ways.

Across the league throughout the season, the NHL and NHLPA work to foster a positive environment for players, families and fans of every race, religion, national origin, gender, age, sexual orientation, socio-economic status and for those with disabilities.

“We are so excited work with the San Jose Barracuda on this event and applaud them for creating an environment of inclusivity,” said Nicole Kim, Executive Director of College of Adaptive Arts. “It’s vital that people of all abilities and walks of life are able to come together to learn, play, and enrich their communities.”
