Driver Who Was Killed In Solo Car Crash West of Saratoga Identified
A 26-year-old man who died in a solo car crash Monday evening west of Saratoga has been identified by the Santa Clara County coroner.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA -- A 26-year-old Modesto man who died in a solo car crash Monday evening in the hills west of Saratoga has been identified by the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office as Santiago Vazquez.
Vazquez was speeding in a 2008 Mazda MX-5 Miata on state Highway 35 around 6 p.m. when he lost control of the car on an "S" curve north of state Highway 9.
The Mazda spun clockwise 180 degrees and went off the west edge of the road, where it hit two trees, California Highway Patrol officers said.

The car turned around the other way before stopping on some gravel west of the highway.
Paramedics performed CPR on Vazquez before taking him to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, where he died.

Vazquez's 24-year-old passenger, another Modesto man, was taken to Stanford Hospital with moderate injuries.
