Driving down Saratoga Avenue Thursday afternoon we noticed large amounts of garbage, items not normally seen near curbsides, awaiting pick-up by West Valley Collection and Recycling.
Aside from the traditional bins for yard waste, garbage and recyclables, we also spotted large black plastic bags filled with waste, wood pieces, cardboard.
Apparently the company, which provides services for Saratoga, Monte Sereno, Los Gatos and Campbell, has one day only during the year when it will pick up an unlimited amount of items from residents' curbs at no extra cost. Items are supposed to be by the curbside by 6 a.m. Garbage pickup occurs on Friday in this part of Saratoga.
