STAR PARTY WITH SAN JOSE ASTRONOMICAL ASSOCIATION AT SARATOGA LIBRARY
Join the Saratoga Library, 13650 Saratoga Ave., at 7 p.m. Monday, July 15 for the movie October Sky (rated PG). The true story of Homer Hickam, a coal miner's son who was inspired by the first Sputnik launch to take up rocketry against his father's wishes. After the movie, join astronomers from the San Jose Astronomical Association at the back of the parking lot for a star party. Among their viewing targets will be the first-quarter moon, Saturn, double star Albireo, the Ring Nebula, and the Globular Cluster in Hercules if the air is nicely clear. http://www.sjaa.net/current.shtml. SARATOGA VILLAGE MARKETPLACE FARMERS MARKET

LAND, SEA AND HEAVENLY BODIES AT AEGIS GALLERY

SARATOGA MOVIE NIGHT FRIDAY
The Saratoga Movie Night Series continues at 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 19 at El Quito Park, 12855 Paseo Presada. The event is sponsored by the Saratoga Parks and Recreation Commission, which presented a movie night on June 21 and on Aug. 16 at the same time and same location. The film shown will be The Parent Trap. Free popcorn and coffee will be served. The public is encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.
