Scotts Valley is a place like no other. And whether you grew up here, recently moved to the area or you’re just an occasional visitor, you know that Scotts Valley has its own special traditions and history that make it so unxique.
A few things to know:
- Scotts Valley was named after Hiram Scott, who purchased the area in the 1850s. Today, visitors can explore the Scott House, a historic building that serves as a museum and offers a glimpse into the city's past.
- Scotts Valley has a thriving wine industry with several wineries and vineyards in the area. Visitors can enjoy wine tasting and tours at the Bargetto Winery, Wrights Station Vineyard & Winery and other local establishments.
- The city of Scotts Valley is also known for its vibrant arts community. The Scotts Valley Art, Wine, and Beer Festival is a popular event that showcases the work of local artists, musicians and crafters. The festival also features delicious food, wine and beer from the region.
- Scotts Valley is a short drive from the beach, making it a perfect destination for outdoor enthusiasts. Visitors can enjoy surfing, sunbathing and exploring the scenic coastline at nearby beaches such as Santa Cruz Beach, Capitola Beach and Natural Bridges State Beach.
- Scotts Valley is home to a unique outdoor sculpture garden called Sky Park. The garden features over 80 sculptures created by local and international artists and is free and open to the public.
- The Scotts Valley Farmers Market is a popular destination for locals and visitors alike. The market takes place on Saturdays and features fresh produce, artisanal foods and handmade crafts from local vendors.
