High UV Index Predicted In Sherman Oaks Through The Week
The UV index in the greater Los Angeles area will remain extremely high through the weekend, meaning Angelenos are at risk of a nasty burn.
SHERMAN OAKS, CA — Grab your shades and sunscreen, Sherman Oaks: the ultraviolet index will be extremely high throughout the week.
Monday's ultraviolet index level in Santa Monica will be 8, according to the National Weather Service. The UV index will remain between 11 and 12 through Sunday in Los Angeles, according to AccuWeather.
A very high exposure level reading of 10, or greater, means a fair- skinned person could suffer a sunburn in about four minutes if not protected.

Ultraviolet radiation is blamed for a host of health problems, including skin cancer and cataracts.
The high UV will come with high temperatures as well. Sherman Oaks can expect temperatures of 85 Tuesday, 91 Wednesday, and 87 Thursday.

A wind advisory is in effect in parts of Los Angeles County starting at 11 a.m. Monday until 6 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
A high wind warning is in effect from 6 p.m. Monday until 11 a.m. Tuesday.
North winds from 20 mph to 30 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected in the Los Angeles County mountains, including Lockwood Valley, Mount Pinos, Acton and Mount Wilson.
Northwest winds from 15 mph to 25 mph with gusts up to 55 mph and the strongest near and through the Interstate 5 corridor.
A wind advisory has been issued for the Santa Clarita Valley from 3 p.m. Monday until 3 a.m. Tuesday.
Northwest winds from 20 mph to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph are expected in Castaic, Newhall, Santa Clarita and Valencia.
