Hoagies & Wings Owner Releases Statement, Sets Up Lopez Memorial Fund

Hoagies & Wings restaurant in Sherman Oaks will donate 10 percent of all online orders from the Sherman Oaks location through July to the family of Raul Lopez, a former Hoagies & Wings cook who was slain June 30 after an argument with a group of male customers.

Below is the statement released by Hoagies & Wings owner, Akida Mashaka. 

Hi, my name is Akida Mashaka. I am the CEO of Hoagies & Wings.

Firstly, I want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers regarding the Raul Lopez tragedy. On behalf of the Hoagies & Wings family, we greatly appreciate the outpouring of support from customers, members of the community, and people across the country.

We are deeply saddened by this event. As this is an active LAPD investigation, with respect we are not providing any comments regarding the incident.

We would like to thank the LAPD for its help during this time, especially to Senior Lead Officer Ron Carter for his guidance and direction during this process and Detective James Nuttall in his leadership of the investigation.

Currently, we are working with Raul Lopez's family to set up a memorial fund in his honor. Due to this senseless tragedy, Raul leaves behind his wife Guadalupe and five children. We will be providing donation boxes at the Sherman Oaks and La Cienega Blvd locations for those who would like to help Raul's family.

Additionally, Hoagies & Wings will be donating 10% of all online orders placed on the Hoagies & Wings website www.hoagiesandwings.com from the Sherman Oaks location through July to Raul's family.

Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with Raul's family. He was a good man and will be greatly missed.
