Teen Killed Walking Into Traffic On 405 Freeway

VAN NUYS (CNS) - A 17-year-old boy who was struck and killed by a big rig on the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway in Van Nuys apparently ran onto the freeway intentionally, authorities said Wednesday.

The teen, who was from Valencia, died at the scene of the collision, which occurred about 3:45 p.m. Tuesday near Victory Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol, which reported that his death is being investigated as an apparent suicide.

"Upon further investigation, it appears the (teen) parked his vehicle on the right shoulder of I-405 southbound, exited his vehicle, and intentionally ran into traffic," according to a CHP statement.
