Property Where Jane Russell Lived Is Up for Sale
The Sherman Oaks property owned 40 years ago by the late actress and her husband became the focus of a recent neighborhood controversy.
Jane Russell's death this week at the age of 89 was a reminder that the well-known actress was a local woman, a graduate of Van Nuys High School, who raised her three children in Sherman Oaks. Russell's then-husband Bob Waterfield, quarterback of the Los Angeles Rams, was also a popular local celebrity.
The home where Russell and Waterfield lived in the Sherman Oaks hills was torn down in the 1990s, and a huge 10,000-square-foot house was built on the 3o,000-square-foot lot in 2006. That house, at 14888 Round Valley Drive, was put up for sale this month with an asking price of more than $4 million.
The house was also the focus of a story on Sherman Oaks Patch two months ago after it was rented to a production company that made so much noise during the night that police were called several times to quiet things down.

Finally, residents started a petition drive aimed at keeping production companies out of the neighborhood. Now that the house is up for sale, neighbors are concerned that a new owner will rent the property out to other noisy productions.
"I'm worried that a rap group will buy the house," said Clarissa Keller, the neighbor who started the petition drive. "I've still got the petitions ready," she added.
