3 Earthquakes Rock Sonoma County Sunday Afternoon

One Sonoma County resident reported their desk swayed during the quake.

SONOMA COUNTY — Three earthquakes rocked Sonoma County on Sunday afternoon.

The first quake struck at 3:30 p.m. just east of Rohnert Park and was recorded with a magnitude 4.0, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

That was followed by a magnitude-3.1 temblor at 3:38 p.m. in nearly the same location.

And at about 4:04 p.m., a third quake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.4 hit slightly to the northwest.

The larger earthquake was first recorded as having a magnitude of 4.9 but was revised downward after being reviewed by a USGS seismologist.

The Santa Rosa Police Department, Santa Rosa Fire Department and San Francisco Department of Emergency Management did not report any initial damage or injuries but said to be alert and prepared for aftershocks.
