Fire Destroys Home In Unincorporated Sonoma County

A fire destroyed a single-family home in unincorporated Sonoma County east of Cloverdale on Wednesday afternoon, Cal Fire officials said.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA -- A fire destroyed a single-family home in unincorporated Sonoma County east of Cloverdale on Wednesday afternoon, Cal Fire officials said.

The 9.5-acre fire in the 42000 block of River Road at Geysers Road was reported around 5:10 p.m. and was fully contained around at 11 p.m. May 24, Cal Fire Capt. Will Schunk said.

The fire started in the house and spread to vegetation. The three adults who lived in the single-story home were not home at the time, Cloverdale Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Rick Blackmon said.

"It's a total loss," Blackmon said.

Cal Fire estimates the fire caused $200,000 in damage.

Eighty-four firefighters from Cal Fire, Geyserville, Cloverdale, Healdsburg and Windsor responded to the fire, according to Cal Fire. The cause is under investigation.
