Kaiser Permanente Northern California recognized for providing high-quality medical care
For the fourth year in a row, Kaiser Permanente Northern California's health plan receives five stars for providing quality care to patients

OAKLAND, Calif., Nov. 21, 2025 – Kaiser Permanente Northern California’s health plan has received the highest rating in the state – 5 stars – for providing high-quality care to patients across multiple specialties, according to the 2025-26 California Health Care Quality Report Cards.
Kaiser Permanente’s Northern California and Southern California health plans are the only two in the state to receive the Center for Data Insights and Innovation’s highest rating – 5 stars – for “quality of medical care.”
In addition, Kaiser Permanente Northern California and Southern California are also being recognized with 5 stars for behavioral and mental health care. Kaiser Permanente Northern California is also a leader in the state with 5-star ratings for diabetes, cardiac, prenatal care, and care of children.

Kaiser Permanente Northern California also received 5 stars for preventive care and appropriateness of tests, treatments, and procedures.

“This recognition of clinical excellence across multiple specialties—from mental health to prenatal care––is a direct reflection of our physicians, nurses, and care teams who consistently deliver world-class, high-value care,” said Maria Ansari, MD, FACC, CEO and executive director of The Permanente Medical Group. “We take great pride in the trust our 4.6 million members place in us, and we remain committed to providing them with exceptional care and service every day.”
The 2025-26 report card provides California health care consumers with side-by-side comparisons of the 19 largest HMOs and PPOs in the state. It rates health plans on dozens of standard-of-care measures of treatment and prevention of a range of conditions that have significant implications for personal health.
In addition, Kaiser Permanente Northern California’s health plans were also the highest rated in California — and among the highest in the nation — for overall treatment, prevention and equity, and patient experience by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) 2025 Health Plan Ratings.
