Quiet Reflection, Meditation and More This Weekend

Kick-start your new year with a meditation class, puppet show and a biology lesson on fungus

After a solid month of holiday indulgence, this probably isn't the weekend to go wild on the food, fun and fancy. But, rather than spending your off-time wiling away on your taxes, cleaning or closet, or another hum-drum resolution, we've tracked down a few ways to spend the time in quiet reflection.

On Saturday, join Bouverie Preserve biologist Jeanne Wirka for a 'Fabulous Fungi.'  Participants will learn about the critical role that fungi play in the ecosystem as well as basic identification techniques. The workshop will include a brief classroom discussion and a one-to-three mile hike to known mushroom spots at the Preserve to see specimens up close.

On Sunday, look for some quiet contentment with 's five-week Sunday morning series. The class promises to help participants seek 'real' contentment, away from things, achievements and relationships. The series meets from 10:30 am - 12:30 pm, at 255 W Napa St. The series costs $100, $90 for members, but no one is turned away, regardless of budget.
