UPDATE: Suspect Caught After 1 Stabbed During Sonoma County Argument
BREAKING: The suspect fled in an RV prior to deputies' arrival.

Detectives with the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Violent Crimes unit have arrested a 58-year-old Santa Rosa transient named Frederick Helmke at about 4:50 pm on Jan. 30 for felony assault with a deadly weapon. The arrest culminates from a call received around 10 pm Friday, Jan. 27. Deputies responded to a residence in the 4700 block of Guerneville Rd in the unincorporated city of Graton regarding a report of a stabbing.
Upon their arrival they found a 55-year-old man with a stab wound to his abdomen. The man lives at that home and was transported to a local hospital where he is expected to survive his injuries. The argument allegedly started when the victim accused Helmke of stealing property from him. A fight ensued and Helmke ended up stabbing the suspect in the abdomen and then fled in his RV.

Helmke was booked into the Sonoma County Jail on one charge of Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

ORIGINAL STORY:
SONOMA COUNTY, CA -- A man who stabbed another person during an argument and then fled in a recreational vehicle is being sought by the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office.
At 10 pm on Jan. 27, deputies from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on the 4700 block of Guerneville Road, Graton, for a reported male stabbing victim. Graton is an unincorporated town in west Sonoma County.
Upon arrival, deputies located the victim lying in the back of a parked van on the property.
During their investigation, deputies learned the victim had been involved in a verbal argument with a second male suspect who arrived at the residence in a white RV. The verbal argument escalated into a physical altercation at which time the male suspect produced a knife and stabbed the victim in lower abdomen.
The male suspect then left the residence in the RV prior to deputies’ arrival.
Emergency medical services personnel who responded to this incident transported the victim to a hospital in Santa Rosa for medical treatment.
Detectives from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation and Violent Crime Investigation units say they are conducting a follow-up investigation.
