Man Killed In Compton Shooting

Deputies found a 20-year-old man, who was not named, shot dead Saturday in Compton.

COMPTON, CA — Deputies found a 20-year-old man shot dead Saturday in Compton.

Deputies were sent to Gateway Drive and Greenleaf Boulevard regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call at about 3 a.m., and found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies were canvassing the area for possible witnesses and surveillance video.

The name of the shooting victim will be released pending notification of next of kin, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.
