Man Shot, Killed on Compton Street
Witnesses told sheriff's homicide detectives that they heard some people arguing on the street right before gunshots rang out.

A 34-year-old man was shot and killed on a street in Compton and the shooter remained at large Tuesday, authorities said.
The slaying took place in the 1700 block of East Alondra Boulevard shortly before 10 p.m. Monday, according to Lt. Victor Lewandowski of the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau.
Virgil Kennerly was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Lewandowski and the coroner’s office.

A motive for the shooting was unknown. No suspect information was available.
