Remains Found in 105 Freeway Still Under Investigation
Authorities are withholding the man's name.

PALMDALE (CNS) - Investigations were underway today into discoveries of human remains at opposite ends of Los Angeles County.
Authorities on Monday found more human remains near a Palmdale location where a human skull was found a day earlier, and the body of a man in his 30s was found in a shallow grave near the westbound Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway in Downey.
In Palmdale, the first discovery was made about 4:50 p.m. Sunday in the 6200 block of West Avenue N, said Deputy Irys Alvarez of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau. On Monday morning, sheriff's homicide detectives and coroner's office investigators searched the area "and found more human remains,'' Deputy Rich Pena said.

"Clothing found on and around the remains seem to indicate that the remains are female, but actual identification will be established through dental records,'' Pena said.
Authorities urged anyone with information on either case to call the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.

The grave in Downey was found about 4:45 p.m. Sunday, west of Lakewood Boulevard, said Sgt. Vince Rosario of the Downey Police Department.
California Highway Patrol officials notified Downey police when the remains were found in a shallow grave near the embankment, Rosario said. Investigators were withholding the man's name until his next-of-kin could be notified.
Coroner's Chief Craig Harvey said the cause of death was not immediately known.
