South Gate Police Seize Kilos of Cocaine

The police also confiscated some alleged drug money.

 

The South Gate Police Department (SGPD) has informed Patch that several kilos of cocaine were apprehended during a local narcotics search on Friday, April 26.

“Detectives from the South Gate Police Departments Narcotics Unit and Crime Impact Team conducted a search of a location in the 8900 block of California Avenue,” said Captain Keith Hupp of the SGPD via email.

During this search approximately 4 kilograms of cocaine were seized, along with a significant amount cash.

“[The] U.S. currency was believed to be [from] proceeds [of] drug trafficking,” said Capt. Hupp.  “Several persons associated with the location have been identified.”

The SGPD estimates that the sequestered narcotics have an estimated valueof  $60,000 to $80,000.  

“The criminal investigation [is] ongoing,” said Capt. Hupp.
