Readers’ Choice: Halvorson’s Wins Best Dry Cleaning!

Meet Susan Lee: The co-owner of  and winner of Patch's latest Readers' Choice. 

The local dry cleaning business is the second she and her husband, Steve, have opened in San Gabriel Valley over past few decades.

Having moved to America from Korea in 1982, Lee admits, “I don’t speak English well.”

“It’s hard to start a business, so I figured out that this business was best for me, because I know how to do alterations, and my husband knows how to work the machines.”

The couple first opened Highland Cleaners in Glendale in 1986 and Halvorson’s here in South Pas in 2000.

“[Business at Halvorson’s] was growing more than 20 percent every year until recently when the recession started,” said Lee. 

Halvorson's cleaners are experts at cleaning wedding dresses and draperies, but they also offer fluff and fold services and quality alterations.

Lee relies on word of mouth to advertise her business, which offers services certified by the California Environmental Agency, as well.

“We do everything here. We don’t send out anything,” she boosts of her business.
