It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Delores Stanghellini.
She had just celebrated her 75th wedding anniversary with her loving husband Mario and extended family, and then celebrated her 92nd birthday with her daughters in Calistoga. She was swimming in the mineral pool the morning of her birthday. The night before she drank her last famous brandy old-fashion at Solbar restaurant. She lived life with passion and zest. In fact, the day she passed she posted a silly talking rooster on Instagram screaming out “ I’m fine, I’m fine, I’m really just fine! “ Her happiest times were when she was spending time with her family, including many vacations in Tahoe with all her children and grandchildren, many trips to Hawaii and Italy, and 20 years spending time in Los Gatos in the mountain bungalow that she nicknamed Hernando’s Hideaway. She loved cooking family dinners, right up until a month before she passed. She was looking up new recipes on the Internet till the end. She was a lifelong animal lover. On one occasion in her 80’s she jumped out of the car to rescue a pitbull running in traffic on Highway 12! She loved to play practical jokes on everyone. She loved all her witches hats and masks for Halloween! Three years ago she and her husband moved to Oakmont community near Kenwood. She said it was the happiest time of her life because both her daughters had homes within a mile of her. She leaves behind her loving family — husband Mario, sister Donna, her three children, Mario (Jerrie), Lynn (Terrie), Kim (Anne), grandchildren Gina, Kelly, Kaitlin, and Maura, great grandchildren Sawyer and Sage, and her beloved one-eyed rescue dog Louie.
