Unlicensed Truck Driver Hits 6-Year-Old

A young girl suffered a serious leg injury when a truck hit her on Maple Street Monday night.

A 6-year-old girl was seriously injured when a truck hit her in South San Francisco on Monday night, police said.

Police believe the girl walked out from between two parked cars into the 800 block of Maple Street at about 6:10 p.m.

An unlicensed driver, later identified as Linares Emerson, 32, of South San Francisco, said he didn't see the girl in time to avoid hitting her, police said.

The child suffered an injury to her lower right leg and was taken to San Francisco General Hospital for treatment, police said.

Emerson was cited at the scene for driving without a license and having no proof of insurance.
