Weekend Eucalyptus Removal Project Planned In San Bruno Mountain Park
San Mateo Parks crews are scheduled to remove invasive eucalyptus growth in the northwest area of the park through the weekend.
SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — San Mateo Parks is scheduled to work over the weekend at San Bruno Mountain Park to improve the ecosystem and tamp down on the regrowth of invasive eucalyptus in the area.
The work is weather permitting, and there is some rain in the forecast, but tentatively crews are scheduled to work along two acres in the northwest boundary of the park from Saturday through Monday.
The project is part of the Forest Health & Community Safety Initiative, which included the creation of a shaded fuel break in 2021 and follow-up work in April 2022. Crews will target eucalyptus in line with wildfire fuel reduction goals.

Officials said crews will use chainsaws and hand tools, so some noise may be audible in neighboring areas along Florence Street and Mountain View Drive. People visiting the park may see contractors in the area and are asked to avoid the area while the project is underway.
