Debunking Rumors about the Wildlife Ordinance 2022
Home owners are being whipped into a frenzy of fear by realtors/developers pushing half-truths about the this proposed law -
If indeed a house is built lot line to lot line, it was either unpermitted if it was built after 1985, or was granted special permission.
Many of the homeowners who object to this legislation have not been educated about the legal theory of “Prior Non -Conforming Uses, especially when the prior construction was not permitted.
Who’s against this ordinance? ---- Builders/developer & real estate-related professionals (not every single) who see the Ordinance as an obstacle to building new homes on every inch of Los Angeles; having INSTITUTIONAL “house-flippers” come in, buy a house and make a cool $1,000,000 dollar profit. They even have a GOFUNDME site dedicated to defeating this Wildlife Ordinance.

It seems that Developers don’t want to have to comply with these new rules and are stampeding homeowners into thinking that “the homeowner” has to immediately bring their property into compliance with these new rules. NOT SO !!!!
------ OR that this Ordinance will prohibit them from rebuilding their houses in the event of a cataclysmic disaster.

DO YOU KNOW that any “Only unpermitted improvements/additions/modifications” you’ve made to your house WILL NOT BE honored by Planning?
---------------NO PERMIT? -- You might be out of luck & who’s fault it that? This is the LAW on the books PERIOD….. It’s not "new thing" under this Ordinance !
On the other hand if you have permits “you’re probably good to go” under "grand-fathering" provisions.
