Firefighters managed to keep the fire from spreading to an adjacent building.

The fire was reported at 2:40 a.m. at 4135 N Vantage Ave., a one story, single family house, according to Margaret Stewart of LAFD.

"Firefighters initiated an offensive attack but due to the amount of fire which extended across the roof, transitioned to a defensive fire," Stewart added.
