 SPRING FLING: CAKE WALK!
New This Year!

It's a sweet mash-up of Musical Chairs and Bake Sale.  It's a delicious game of chance.  It's an old-timey, tasty way to support our school.  It's a Cakewalk!

New to Spring Fling this year is the Cakewalk.  Several players at a time walk through marked hoops on the ground as the music plays.  When the music stops each player lands on a final numbered hoop.  A number is then pulled from a hat and the player standing in that hoop wins an ENTIRE CAKE!

So save some tickets for the Cakewalk on Sunday. And if you live to bake - or have a favorite bakery - please donate a cake to our Cakewalk.  The more treats to win, the more fun and the more money we make for Valley View.
Bring your donations to the Cakewalk when you arrive at the fair.  See you there!

SPRING FLING: PIE EATING CONTEST! New This Year!

Topping off the fun at the Spring Fling this year will be an event you don't want to miss. A good old fashioned pie eating contest!

Watch as your friends, parents and teachers stuff their faces (without using their hands!) with delicious chocolate cream, cherry and apple pies donated from Marie Callendars.

The winning adult, child and teacher/faculty member in each category, goes home with a shiny trophy and bragging rights as the pie eating champion of Valley View!
Sure to be some sweet and messy fun.

First prize trophy awarded to first contestant in each division to complete their pie slice and stand up. Registration form and rules here or at Entry booth day-of festival... first come, first registered.
SPRING FLING Donations

These items will complement the rest of the food offerings of corn on the cob, hot dogs, veggie dogs, cole slaw, pulled pork sandwiches and pulled pork sandwiches. We really need these drinks and sides to complete a fun meal option for the festival. Your donations are critical to our success!

Please bring your food and drink donations to the PTA room. Deadline is THIS WEDNESDAY.

FIVE QUESTIONS Grigoryan Chant

RITA GRIGORYAN

This is Rita's sixth year at Valley View. She was on leave at the beginning of the school year because she had a baby girl. Rita's oldest daughter is eight years old, and the baby is 7 1/2 months.

Q1: What is your occupation?RG: As of now, I work as a School Administrative Assistant at Valley View. I have a masters in technological engineering. I design assembly lines for leather products, shoes, leather jackets, whatever is involved with leather.  Q2: Where were you born?RG: I was born in Armenia. I came to the United States fourteen years ago without a word of English. I started going to ESL classes taking English. At first it was very hard, I thought I wouldn't be able to communicate. I worked in a bakery shop and was going to  ESL classes every night. After going to Glendale College for two or three years, I began working in offices. I started with LAUSD nine years ago.
Q3: What do you do in your free time?RG: I don't really have free time now, because I have two different age children. If I have free time, I like to hang out with my family. Take my kids to places they enjoy. We live very close to Americana, so we walk there. My daughter likes to eat pretzels and ice cream and my little one likes to watch fountains.
Q4: What is your idea of perfect happiness?RG:  To have a good family. To have good children. To be able to enjoy life.Q5: What is your greatest fear?RG: Earthquakes. I survived an earthquake in 1988 in Armenia, and I lost my family, my mother, my sister, my two grandmothers, my aunts, my cousins, they died in the earthquake, so I freak out at earthquakes. I was only 19 years old. I happened to be in my friends house when it started shaking, so we all ran out in the street. It was horrible. We ran to my house and half of my building wasn't there.
