Winning Mega Millions Ticket Sold In The San Fernando Valley

LOS ANGELES, CA — A ticket with five of the six winning numbers in the multi-state Mega Millions lottery drawing on Tuesday was sold in the San Fernando Valley, making one lucky person $492,603 richer.

There were no jackpot-winning tickets in this week's drawing, sending the jackpot for Friday's drawing to an estimated $400 million, according to the California Lottery.

Tuesday's winning ticket was sold at Central Market at 11479 San Fernando Road in San Fernando. It was missing the Mega number.

The San Fernando Valley has a blessed and cursed history when it comes to the lottery. The ticket for the state's largest unclaimed jackpot — $63 million — was sold in Chatsworth, making someone extraordinarily lucky and unlucky simultaneously. But lottery lightning has struck many times in the San Fernando including this year when a $421 million Mega Millions ticket was sold in the Valley. Then there's Antulio Mazariego, a lottery player who's won multiple million-dollar scratchers.

The winning numbers were 27, 31, 50, 51, 61. The Mega number was 21. That missing Mega number cost Tuesday's San Fernando Valley winner the $370 million jackpot.

The ticket was one of two sold in California with five of the six winning numbers. The other was sold at a Chevron station in Riverside at 3476 Van Buren Blvd.

The drawing was the 23rd in a row without a jackpot winner. That's no surprise given the odds: 302,575,350 to 1, according to the California Lottery.

The chance of winning a prize is 1 in 24. There were 114,161 winning tickets sold worth between $2 and $492,603.
