Flooding Closes I-680 In Fairfield: Police

FAIRFIELD, CA — Southbound Interstate 680 was closed mid-day Wednesday due to flooding in Fairfield, according to police.

The closure was announced as of 10:45 a.m. between Gold Hill and Marshview roads, police said. As of 3 p.m., one lane had reopened but another remained closed, with all lanes expected to be open by 8 p.m.

"Drivers are urged to drive slowly and obey all traffic control measures," police said.

The flooding came as rain fell in Fairfield on Wednesday, with the accumulation expected to continue through the day, and a chance of thunderstorms overnight, according to the National Weather Service. A flood advisory was in effect until 6:45 p.m. Wednesday.
