Fairfield Man Shot Near Grange Middle School Dies: Police
A shooting near a Fairfield Middle School prompted police to temporarily lockdown students at the school Wednesday morning.

FAIRFIELD - A 28-year-old Fairfield resident who was shot this morning near Grange Middle School in Fairfield has died, police said.
Multiple reports of shots fired in the 1800 block of Blossom Avenue came in shortly before 9:05 a.m., and the victim was found at the scene, police said.

The school at 1975 Blossom Ave. was temporarily placed on lockdown but there was no threat to the school, police said.
Police said this afternoon that the shooting victim had died.

The victim was not associated with the school, and investigators were still at the scene early this afternoon, police said.

FAIRFIELD - A shooting near a Fairfield Middle School prompted police to temporarily lockdown students Wednesday morning.
According to Fairfield Police, reports of numerous shots fired in the 1800 block of Blossom Avenue brought officers to an area near Grange Middle School just after 9 a.m. Arriving officers found a gunshot victim at the location.
Police say they ordered Grange Middle School temporarily placed on lockdown due to the proximity of the crime scene.
After a preliminary investigation, police say there is currently "no threat to the community or the school, and the lockdown at the school has been lifted."
Christine Harrison, the Principal of Grange, issued a statement to the school community shortly after the event.
Fairfield Police say the gunshot victim is not associated with the school.
