FAIRFIELD, CA — A Solano County Superior Court jury Tuesday convicted a Fairfield man of pimping, pandering and human trafficking of a minor in 2017. Leshone Johnson, 39, befriended the 16-year-old runaway girl from Fresno in June 2017, Solano County prosecutors said.

Johnson began a sexual relationship with the girl, who had already been prostituting herself for years to survive, and she continued to do so between June and October 2017, according to prosecutors.

A Fairfield police officer contacted the girl on Oct. 27, 2017 in the 1400 block of W. Texas Street, and an investigation determined she was living with Johnson at a home on Utah Street, police said.

The girl admitted that before she met Johnson she had been trafficked during the previous four years in several large cities across the country including Oakland and San Jose, according to police.

Detectives contacted Johnson during a search of the home and he was booked in the Solano County Jail. The evidence against Johnson included information from his cellphone and a phone he gave to the girl and a retrieval of Backpage adds for prostitution, prosecutors said.

Johnson also was convicted of statutory rape and oral copulation of a minor.

Johnson is scheduled for a hearing Friday regarding his prior out-of-state strike conviction. If the conviction is found to be true, Johnson faces 25 years and eight months in state prison, according to prosecutors.
