Suisun City Vegetation Fire: 1 Firefighter Hurt Battling Blaze

One Suisun City firefighter sustained an injury to his knee while battling a vegetation fire on Morgan Street Tuesday afternoon.

SUISUN CITY, CA -- No buildings were burned, but a Suisun City firefighter sustained a knee injury while battling a vegetation fire on Morgan Street Tuesday afternoon, according to the Suisun City Fire Dept.

The SCFD was dispatched to the reported vegetation fire on Morgan Street in Suisun City at 12:04 pm on Tuesday, May 14. Fire engine Chief 47 arrived on scene first and saw about half an acre on fire, with high winds blowing embers into old town Suisun City. Chief 47 requested a second engine.

Engine 48 arrived on scene and began immediate fire attack but were slowed down when a power line fell near the fire crew. Embers blew into a palm tree a block away and started a secondary fire that threatened multiple structures.

Fire crews were able to extinguish the fire and mitigate the structure threat. In the end, no structures were burned and an acre and a half were scorched.

One Suisun City Firefighter sustained an injury to his knee while battling the blaze and will receive further evaluation by medical professionals. Thank you to Fairfield FD, Travis AFB FD, Montezuma FD, and Suisun District FD, Medic Ambulance, and SCPD.
