1 Critically Injured In House Fire That Kills Dog In Riverside County

A Southwest Riverside County blaze ignited early Friday, claiming the life of a dog and critically injuring one person, Cal Fire says.

ANZA, CA — Firefighters battled a residential fire Friday in Anza that left one person with critical injuries, and a dog deceased at the scene, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department spokesperson Jasmine Wood.

The fire was reported shortly before 7:15 a.m. Friday at Table Mountain and Burnt Valley roads, according to Wood.

Firefighters arrived to find the two-story dwelling actively burning, and a Mercy Air Helicopter was called to airlift the victim to a local hospital.

As of 9:30 a.m., the fire was contained, and several resources were slated to remain at the scene until about 11 a.m., Wood said. Fire crews would conduct a thorough overhaul.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation and no other information was immediately available.
