TEMECULA, CA — At least two people were taken into custody in Old Town Temecula Tuesday following a dramatic manhunt.

Pablo Flores, 27, of Lake Elsinore, and Ramos Blas, 31, were both booked into Cois Byrd Detention Center for violation of probation, resisting arrest, and reckless evading.

Shortly before 11:45 a.m., deputies attempted a traffic enforcement stop near Rancho California Road and the 15 freeway.

"Two subjects ran from the vehicle into the Old Town Area," Lt. Deirdre Vickers told Patch. "With the assistance of the Sheriff’s Aviation Unit, the two subjects were located and detained. The investigation is ongoing, and no further details are available at this time."

During the incident, residents reported hearing a Riverside County Sheriff's Department helicopter circling overhead and deputies ordering residents to stay inside their homes. Children on a field trip in Old Town were ordered back onto their school buses, according to witnesses.

During the search, officers were heard shouting, "Come out with your hands up!" and "We will find you."

The Southwest Sheriff's Station confirmed to Patch that two people were detained.

It's the second time in 24 hours that police swarmed South Temecula, and the Sheriff's Department says the two events are unrelated.

On Monday, during rush hour, a car-to-car shooting occurred at Temecula Parkway and Redhawk Parkway, next to the Shell Gas Station.

Shortly thereafter, two people were dropped off at an area hospital with apparent gunshot wounds, Sgt. Wenndy Brito-Gonzalez told Patch. Both were involved in the Temecula shooting incident, she said.

As of Tuesday afternoon, both remain in critical but stable condition.
