Coroner IDs Victim Of Temecula Pedestrian Struck At Overland And Ynez

A 22-year-old man was the victim of the crash that left the busy Temecula intersection closed for several hours Wednesday night.

TEMECULA, CA — A 22-year-old Texas man was identified as the victim struck and killed while walking on a Temecula street late Wednesday.

The Riverside County Coroner's Bureau identified Gavin Ladue of Fate, Texas, after his next of kin was notified.

Shortly after 9 p.m. Wednesday, Ladue was walking along the four-lane corridor of Ynez Road, just south of Overland Drive, when a motorist struck him. It was unclear whether the victim was in a lane, crossing, or walking along one of the wide shoulders when the impact occurred.

According to sheriff's officials, the driver, whose identity was not disclosed, immediately stopped, and emergency crews rushed to the scene to assist.

Ladue was found in grave condition and was rushed to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar, where he died 45 minutes later.

The motorist was questioned but not arrested.
