Early Morning Fire Scorches Garage in Anza

Flames blackened the detached garage of a home along Highway 371 early Sunday in Anza, a spokeswoman said.

Dispatchers received a call at 4:44 a.m. and sent firefighters to the 53000 block of Highway 371. They found the 500-square foot garage on fire, Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Melody Hendrickson said.

The blaze was contained by 5:21 a.m. and no other structures were threatened. The extent of the damage, or cause of the fire, was not immediately known, Hendrickson said.
